A penguin entered in the OFFICIAL SOUTH POLE MARATHON OF 2010 with a polar bear. Soon after, Polar Bear got competitive, and she ran a lot. Penguin lagged behind. Polar Bear accidentally ran more than the requirement, which is 12 miles. She ran a certain amount of miles while the penguin ran 2 miles. With their walkie talkies, they added the distance they ran and found out that 3/5 of the sum was 12 miles.
We liked how you guys wrote a nice explanation with detail about the penguin's and polar bear's marathon explaining each step. But some things you guys could have improved on was instead of using the word "she" you should have just said the polar bear so that the reader can understand the word problem better, and quicker. Also, there's a grammar mistake on the second sentence. You should write: Soon after, the polar bear got competitive, and she ran a lot.
The question is really fun! But in the end, it got less like a word problem and more like a math equation. One way that you might improve is by saying ‘they found out how much distance they ran’ instead of ‘they added the distance they ran’. But the question was very creative and we could understand it! It also didn’t have any grammatical errors. Overall, it was a great question! (:
We like the concept of the word problem, which uses animals of South Pole. Although the idea is creative, the word problem does not contain a question at the end. That's why we can't answer anything, when the question doesn't ask anything. One confusing thing on this word problem is that the problem mentions 12 miles twice, in different ways. Due to the fact that the actual equation only has one '12', I think you should simplify the informations to one answer. Overall, it was a creative, organized, and easy-to-read.
